Telemedicine

From on-going issues to new problems, get expert care for your horse with Telemedicine.
This service allows the veterinarians at Tacoma Equine to provide evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment remotely when an in-person visit is not necessary!

What Can Telemedicine Be Used For?

  • Rechecks & Follow-Ups

  • Repeat medication checks

  • Mild trauma

  • Mild lameness/performance issues

  • Skin issues

  • Minor wounds

  • and more!

Who is Eligible for Telemedicine?

A valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) is required by law.*  A valid VCPR is obtained by your horse having been examined, in person, annually.  Telemedicine consults are at the discretion of the veterinarian.

How Does it Work?

Tacoma Equine's practice management software offers virtual visits via the Zoom platform.  When you schedule an appointment, you will be emailed a meeting link.  At the time of your appointment, you will follow the link to the Zoom meeting on you cellphone or tablet and be connected with the doctor.  Please make sure you have sufficient cell service or Wi-Fi signal.

How Much Does it Cost?

A Telemedicine Consult is $25 for the first 10 minutes, then $20 for each additional 10 minutes.  If it is determined immediately that your horse needs to be seen by the vet, a portion of the consult fee will be applied to your visit.
